On your never ending to-do list is clean out your closet. "Out" being the operative word. While it's nice to have your clothes hanging in the same direction and your tees anal-compulsively folded into perfect squares, the goal should be to just put away what you actually wear and give away what you don't. Case in point: What are you hanging on to those Joan & Davids for? A time capsule? Of course, once you've finished whittling -- perhaps even with the help of a few friends to give you the thumbs up/down Carrie Bradshaw style -- your complaint of having nothing to wear might in fact be legitimate. But it also may not be the prime time to get a new wardrobe at Neiman's. (Thirty percent off $800 is still a hefty price tag.) So now what, go shopping in a friend's closet?

Here's one better: Go to Elegance II in Chappaqua. In this upscale consignment boutique, you'll find pre-owned designer apparel, shoes and accessories (Chanel, Gucci, Hermes, Balenciaga, Vuitton, Prada, Louboutin) at a fraction of the cost. "This is not a thrift shop. All of the items are new or in excellent condition. Not good, excellent," says friendly shopkeeper Babette Faotto in her thick French accent. "Her bags and shoes are phenomenal," adds Chappaqua resident and business owner Lisa Bianchi. (Incidentally, you can help Lisa feed her retail habit by ordering her decorated cookies for gifts and parties.)

So pick up something fabulous to add to your "Yes" pile. And if you wind up with buyer's remorse, alleviate the guilt knowing that at least you did your part to recycle today - even if it is a Jimmy Choo clutch.
